June 18, 2009Making a good Long Term investment when Buying Plumbing and Tiles for your Home
March 2, 2009
When you’re either renovating or just remodeling your home, a very important part which many at times overlook is, Buying Quality. With all the costs amounting, people tend to cut corners, and costs. When one doesn’t truly understand what the item is, how it’s made, how it works, therefore how long it will last. An interesting conversation I have with customers goes somewhat along these lines. There’s a cheaper company that sells shower systems, faucets etc. the customer would like to buy from this company since for one there cheap and secondly they have a great warranty policy, probably the best in the industry. They have a no questions asked policy they ship all parts and pieces right away. Sounds great, but one thing the consumer does not take into consideration, which they DO NOT pay for the plumber. Average plumbers can charge $75.00 + a service call, by the time you fix an item just once you are already paying double. Now next fact is that you will have to change parts and pieces for as long as you have this company’s items, they are cheap because they cut so many ends that the quality is so fragile that it will leak and break, that’s a guarantee. Therefore if the consumer will spend more in the first place on a quality built item they won’t have to be spending it on the plumber. Plus there are advantages with a more expensive company; they have nicer and larger selections, like style, color, etc. Something else they don’t know is that the guarantee that they have is as good as the cheaper company just that people don’t know since they didn’t have problems with it to know that there as good. The fact that everyone knows that the cheaper company has such a great warranty service should send off an alarm in one’s head asking how does everyone know? Is the quality that bad that everyone had to use their warranty service?
Think about the above mentioned, I will be back with more points of thought, and good investing tips.

“Founded in 1983 and anchored in a tradition of family values, trust, integrity and innovation, the Rohls possess a dynamic entrepreneurial spirit and passion for servicing customers that extends throughout the organization. Strength comes from the synergy of family and friendship in partnership with suppliers and customers.
From Modest Beginnings
Like any business leader, Ken Rohl started with a vision—and his timing was perfect. He was the first to identify a unique opportunity for a new product innovation: the pull-out kitchen faucet. This design concept has changed the U.S. kitchen faucet business forever. With a true entrepreneurial spirit Ken worked tirelessly selling faucets from both a converted bedroom office and the trunk of his car. As sales rapidly grew he realized that he needed help.
A Family Affair
Sensing the possibilities, Ken’s middle son, Lou, quickly jumped on board. In the beginning Lou was dispatched to Europe to forge closer alliances with the firms suppliers. After returning to California he contributed to every aspect of the small business from accounting to shipping. He later established the Western Regional Sales Division and relocated to San Francisco. Today Lou is Chief Operating Officer/Managing Partner based at the Irvine headquarters.
Ken’s oldest son, Mark, began his career in hospitality sales with Marriott Hotels but soon joined his father and brother in the early stages of the company’s growth. The key metro markets in the Northeast were ripe with opportunity for national expansion and so, after countless cross-country flights, Mark created a permanent Eastern presence by opening an office in New York City. Today Mark is the President of the Eastern Division based in New York.
Ken’s youngest son, Greg, joined the company in its tenth year bringing with him plumbing related retail and marketing experience. Greg also participated in product development and the introduction of new design concepts to the market. Today Greg is the President of the Western Division based in San Francisco.
Expansion
In addition to opening new warehouse locations in Irvine and Dallas, ROHL opened its first international office in Milan, Italy in 2004 where Paula Manini works as liaison with its Continental European manufacturers.

The ROHL product offering continues to grow beyond the original pull-out faucet. It now includes a wide range of exceptional quality, classically differentiated faucets and fixtures.
